Names announced for our new 2000 Dinghies
We were delighted to see such a successful Open Day on Sunday 6 May to officially launch our new 2000 Dinghy Sailing Experience. Despite the hot conditions and terrible traffic we welcomed many new faces to the Club.
The highlight of the event was the launch and official naming of our new 2000 dinghies. The winning names - Zephyr, Skate and Mako – were selected following a competition with local schools and the general public. Pam Clarke, Frank Frizelle and Barnaby Curwood provided the winning suggestions. Each were rewarded with one month’s free membership as well as a neck gaiter from Rooster Sailing.
The new dinghies are available for hire on a full or half day basis to members.
We are currently running a special introductory members’ offer for the first year and free first use of one of the 2000 dinghies. Those who have yet to reach the required level to take a boat out on their own, will receive a free half day training session or alternatively they can join one of the various RYA training weekends that we run.
We look forward to seeing members make good use of Zephyr, Skate and Mako!

2000 Experience Open Day - Sunday 6 May
We are delighted to announce that we will be hosting an Open Day on Sunday 6 May to officially launch our new 2000 Dinghy Sailing Experience. We will be welcoming people of all ages and abilities to discover more about Itchenor and our new fleet of 2000 dinghies.
The highlight of the day will take place at 12 noon when the new 2000 dinghies will be officially launched and the boats’ names will be announced. The names were selected following a competition with the general public to send in their suggestions. As part of the launch, complementary bubbly and nibbles will be available to celebrate the occasion and there will be live music on the bandstand.
Open from 9.30am – 3.00pm, the free entry event will provide visitors with the opportunity to get advice from the Club’s fully qualified RYA instructor about the training courses available at Itchenor for beginners, improvers and experienced sailors. Members and Class Captains will also be available to answer questions and help those looking to take their first steps in trying this exciting and sociable sport.
As well as the water-based activities, guests can learn about our on-shore facilities with a tour of the Clubhouse and the opportunity to enjoy the stunning setting of Chichester Harbour.
New members signing up to the 2000 Experience on the day can take advantage of our special introductory offer for the first year and free first use of one of the Club 2000 dinghies.
The event starts at 9.30am on Sunday 6 May and is free entry.

Wind 8 knots gusting 14 ESE (met office Thorney today)
Drysuit or wet suit is fine but it's not shorts and t shirt weather yet, and bring your buoyancy aid, gloves and boots.

9.45 launch and sail down harbour towards Hayling hopefully with our spinnakers flying till we pass the committee boat or Thorney and if we are really having fun, all the way to Rookwood where we will leave the racing fleets and turn and beat back to Itchenor past the club and on to Chichester Marina where we will tie up and stop for s coffee break. This part of the journey will be a bit more challenging and may call for frequent tacks against the wind and tide but you will be rewarded with a wonderful easy run home with wind and tide in our favour so back in time for a late relaxed lunch at the club where we can discuss the trip.

Win a month’s free membership with our boat-naming competition!
To celebrate the launch of our new 2000 Dinghy Sailing Experience, we are calling upon all members of the public to suggest names for our three new 2000 dinghies.
Ideal for family sailing, cruising and training, our new fleet will give you the opportunity to get out on the water and enjoy all we have to offer without having to own a boat.
You can be as creative as you like with entries but our judges suggest that names are relevant to the local area or marine environment such as types of seabird, wind or fish.
The deadline for submitting names is 31 March 2018. All entries can be submitted by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org or via our Facebook and Twitter pages using the hashtag #ISC2000.
All names will be shortlisted and winners chosen by a panel of judges including our Commodore, Neil Hart and Sports Editor at the Observer Series, Steve Bone. The three winners will each receive a free month’s family membership plus a Multifunction Aquafleece® Neck Gaiter from Rooster Sailing.
