If you are interested in joining and would like to take a look around, pop in to the Office or call us on 01243 512400 and we will be delighted to show you around the Club. We can also introduce you to the Captain of a class in which you may be interested in participating.

Joining is easy. The only criteria is that you must be actively involved in sailing or boating. Just complete and return the application form and direct debit mandate – see the links below to download pdf versions which you can print out and complete. We will then arrange for you to meet with two members of our Selection Committee who will then support your application and also answer any remaining questions. Alternatively, if you already know two ISC members of at least three years standing, they can propose and second your application, which speeds up the process because you won’t need to meet with our committee members.

The Club prides itself on being family friendly, and we strongly encourage all members of the family to join and get involved in club activities. There is space on the application form for including wife/husband/partner and any children. The Spouse Member subscription is 50% of the Full Member subscription. Children aged between 8 and 17 may join as Junior Members. Children aged under 8 may be registered as Honorary Child members for a single payment of £5 which covers them until they turn 8, at which point they can be transferred to Junior membership. For all children aged under 18 we will require a signed parental disclaimer form with the application for membership.

You may use the club from the time we receive your completed application form and signed direct debit mandate. Completed applications go forward for consideration by the Club’s General Committee, which meets once a month or so. Following the General Committee meeting, the Secretary will write to you to confirm your membership, and to offer you a club card which gives a 12.5% discount in the bar and buttery and is our preferred method for you to pay for your food and drink.

The Club’s subscription year runs from 1 November, so for the first year, the subscription payable will be calculated at the following percentage of the annual rate (based on the date of receipt of your application):

100%
May
90%
June
75%
July

August

We will send your signed direct debit mandate to the bank, and will charge your first year’s subscription approximately two weeks after that. Thereafter, subscriptions are charged to your direct debit annually on or shortly after 1 November. In addition to the subscription, Full Members aged 27 and over pay an amount called the Development Levy, which is an annual contribution to the clubhouse redevelopment programme.

An option to pay Full, Junior and Absentee Member subscriptions by instalments has been introduced from 1 March 2010. This method is only available with payment by direct debit. To cover the costs of administration and later receipt of payments (compared with a single payment on 1 November by direct debit), the monthly payments will include a premium of 7.5% over the annual payment. The total premium is capped at £50 for the current year.

In future years, the full year’s subscription will be spread over 10 instalments collected on the 1st business day of each month from November to August. By way of example, using unchanged subscription rates for 2010/11, the monthly subscription from November to August for an individual member, aged 35, would be £48.16 and for a couple, both aged 35, £72.20.

New members joining during the year may pay by equal monthly instalments, but the final payment date remains 1 August.

Storing your dinghy / tender / outboard
We have approximately 200 dinghy and tender storage spaces on the wooden staging adjacent our slipways and a locked room for storage of outboard engines. There currently is not a waiting list, so if you would like a storage space, do contact the Club Office.
