At the General Committee meeting on Friday (22 February) it was agreed to change the application process for admitting new members to the club.
The old process involved a selection commitee in the Spring and one in the Autumn. If a potential member missed the Spring selection he/she would have to wait until September for the Autumn selection, thus missing a full season's sailing.
The General Committee have agreed to speed up this process, and this will now be handled monthly by the General Committee at its regular meetings. The Selection Committee will no longer sit.
We feel that this alteration will improve (1) the image of the Club as a friendly, welcoming, modern Club and (2) streamline and speed up the process of welcoming new members.
The criteria of joining our Club won't change. We will still require our New Members to serve a season as a provisional member before the transfer to full membership, and we will still require a commitment from those members to racing at the Club. We are, primarily, a racing Club.

After a long frustrating day on the water Team Darling gained a fourth place to clinch the primo cup for itchenor Sailing Club and and Thorney Island Sailing club.
Prince Albert of Monaco presented the winning trophy to helm Chris Darling, and crew Alastair Shaw and Gael Pawson at this evening's prize giving, followed by a champagne reception.
