17 Jul MIKE SHAW AND PERDIX WIN XOD MATSON TROPHY
The nine week series for the XOD's Matson Trophy was completed last Saturday. Mike Shaw and the team in Perdix set the pace for the fleet by being in the top three places for the first five races. A second place last Saturday reinforced their winning slot. Second and third in the series were John Tattersall’s Harmony and Mike Scott sailing Cariad.
Over 30 X boats raced in this series – a testimony to the continuing appeal of these traditional craft after 75 years racing at Itchenor. The Matson Trophy is one of the oldest raced for at Itchenor and was presented to the Club in 1935 by George Matson – the founder of the X class at Itchenor in 1932.

12 Jul ISC MEMBER WINS EDINBURGH CUP
Britain's David Palmer, sailing GBR700 with Mark Pettit and Kasper Harsberg, won the fourth race at the Dragon Edinburgh Cup in Weymouth by an impressive margin to take the championship with a 1, 2, 2, 1 score line and a day to spare. With a discard coming into play after the fifth race, David Palmer and his crew could not be beaten. They are declared the 2007 International Dragon Edinburgh Cup winners and Dragon British National Champions.
Speaking at the prize giving David Palmer commented - "This is my fourth year in Dragons and it's the first regatta I've won. I've had a number of seconds but I've never had a win. This is a very competitive class, its full of brilliant sailors and to win you have to work very hard - and we have!

5 Jul XOD RACE NUMBERS UP 33%

Following their highly successful 75th Anniversary Regatta on May 6th  at Itchenor, which saw 28 X One Designs competing , the average number of XOD’s racing in the first three months of this season has risen to 13.3 boats, compared with 10.1 in 2006.

The class was delighted to attract two boats from other XOD Divisions, namely X80 Lass from Hamble, and X130 Nyx from Yarmouth. The joint owners of these boats have been given a great welcome to Itchenor by the members of the class, but there have been some complaints that they are doing too well, and not going aground enough!

Other regular members of the class have been out racing much more this season, and we are confident that we can attract more new members to join in the fun.If you would to try sailing an X boat, please contact classcaptain@xod-itchenor.com
