The call to arms for the XOD fleet came from the Class Captain to arm themselves with work clobber, warm gear and tools and work on the Staging over the weekend. And what a performance, 2 teams worked tirelessly both days and achieved more in a single day than ever before so WELL DONE guys and gals.
I wonder if the Sunbeam and Swallow Fleets would like to copy that over a weekend?
So it would be wrong to talk about the fun on the water while the workers sweated it out on land.. But I will mention that Mike Martell gave us 2 great races - just the right length before we got too cold, in a brisk 18-22 knots of wind.
AGM followed on at 5.30pm with those who remembered, not sure what happened to all the others who said they were "coming!'
Sunday morning, while team 2 were working on the staging, 4 lady helms went out for a race. Well 3 plus Roy, who had a lady on board (so that counts) in 10-15 knots, down to SW Pilsey and onto Channel, and back via a few more buoys. A nice trip round the harbour. Thanks Mike for a brilliant sailing weekend. A beautiful morning to be on the water, wrapped up warm.
Rogers Autumn Championships weekend this Saturday and Sunday with 2 back to backs boths days on top of the tide. Should be fun!
See you on the water in Merlin
