14 August 2020: XOD 8 - 11 August Race Week
Chichester Harbour is one of the most beautiful and unspoilt areas of water in the country. This was the inspiration behind the Itchenor Sailing Club XOD class's recent four day series of relaxed races. Saturday as the first day and the fleet were set a course that included a mark Church that has never in living memory featured in a course from Itchenor. Church is positioned near the entrance to Northney Marina, way

29 July 2020: XOD Evening Racing
Goodness me! I'd forgotten what fun sailing is- perfect Wednesday evening racing in about 15 knots of wind dropping slowly with twelve, thirteen, fourteen boats out - I lost count. It was absolutely wonderful to be finally out on the sea gliding through the waves in Merlin, especially with no water pouring in! With a couple of hours tuition from Roger, Felicity and I got on the start line and kept up with the

Damascus Road Experience
Last Sunday out on the racetrack, Rear Commodore Sailing, Michael J Wigmore, underwent a Damascus Road experience. Turning to singlehanded sailing on the first day of the Itchenor SC Test series he showed fine form in an RS Aero 7. He was so impressed with the handling characteristics of the Aero, he made a wise decision to purchase one of these fast machines. Showing off his transom to the fleet he is

16 April 2020: The Story of the GRP Solent Sunbeams
Itchenor Sailing Club Member and Solent Sunbeam owner, Roger Wickens, has just published the fascinating story behind the GRP Solent Sunbeams. Ten years ago, Sunbeam Class Members at Itchenor realised that the fleet was in danger of falling below the critical mass needed to run a successful class. Local Sunbeam owners and ISC Members, Alan Stannah and Roger Wickens, wondered if a GRP version of the boat would attract new entrants to

20 January 2020: Winter Warmer Round up
A frosty cold morning greeted the Merlin fleet at Itchenor on the first weekend of the 2020 Itchenor Winter Warmer, but the clear skies and 8 boats made for a glamour day on Chichester harbour. PRO Roger Yeoman ensured the fleet that once they arrived at the race course, they would be greeted with a F2 shifting Northerly and he duly delivered. With tide against at the start, the fleet were a little shy

9 January 2020: ISC win Carmella Cup
The Itchenor team arrived at Queen Mary for the Carmela Cup on Saturday morning to find a very cold but sunny day. For the uninitiated, the Carmela Cup is the RYA Open Championship of Two-Boat Team Racing in Keelboats, a niche but hotly contested event hosted by the Royal Thames Yacht Club with some of the best team racers in from the UK and Ireland taking part. Once the ice was scraped from the

27 December 2019: Pilsey Rally
The day dawned overcast and calm and stayed that way so not a lot of sailing done. However there was plenty of boating between the 3 sailing boats, 2 motor cruisers and 2 rowing boats. Activity on the jetty started at 0945 with Masquerade and Elin moored alongside and the 12 rowers preparing for the outing in ideal conditions. The Rowing Support boat crew were happily reassigned to Masquerade and Elin
