About the Club

Itchenor Sailing Club is a friendly and active club located in a beautiful setting in Chichester Harbour, an Area of Outstanding National Beauty. We are proud of our heritage and have successfully developed the Club into one of the leading dinghy and keelboat sailing clubs in the UK.

Our position in the Harbour means that you can sail from the Club at any state of tide and our racing season runs all the way from March to October, making Itchenor quite unique.

Our packed on water programme includes:

  • - Weekend racing for a mixture of keelboats (Swallow, Sunbeam and X-One Design) and dinghies (International 14, RS200, International 420, Topper, Feva and Mirror - we have 100+ Mirrors on our staging!) see our sailing class overview here
  • - Annual Open Meetings for our dinghy classes.
  • - A comprehensive cruiser programme that includes rallies and offshore cruises in company.
  • - Training courses for both sail and power.
  • - Rowing fun, including our four person skiffs and very popular paddleboards.

We have three launching slipways and a floating jetty which guarantees access at all states of tide to the Itchenor channel and our staging gives extensive berthing facilities for dinghies and tenders.

For non boat owners or those who prefer more relaxed sailing, we have our 2000 project which offers a programme for those who want to enjoy dinghy sailing. There is no need to own your own boat for this. The Club's fleet of 2000 dinghies provides a great way to take part. These are available for Club Members to book by the day, or half day from Wednesday to Sunday throughout the season. More information can be found on our Boat Charter/Try Sailing page.

Youth sailing

We are especially proud of our Junior Sailing. ISC Youth sailors of all ages have had success at the highest levels of the sport, and most winters see many children training in both the RYA Squad and Club generated programmes. We have a full schedule of training and racing that nurtures and develops children from complete novice to potential world champions! We host a wide variety of events specially for young sailors including the National School Championships and our flagship event for junior Members, Junior Fortnight.

On Shore facilities

Our wonderfully refurbished clubhouse provides accommodation for both Members and visitors as well as a bar and dining room. All our food is freshly cooked on site and locally sourced, wherever possible. We offer both à la carte dining as well as informal options outside on the lawn where you can enjoy spectacular views across the Itchenor channel to the South Downs.

We have a comprehensive social programme that runs throughout the year including parties, lectures, winter bridge, wine tastings, jazz evenings and film nights to name a few. We pride ourselves on being welcoming and being a club for our members to enjoy.

Interested?

We welcome sailors of all abilities. Don't have a boat? Not sure what your ability is? Don't worry - most of our classes run a crew list so you can try them out and we run a number of open days throughout the season.

We're friendly, competitive and fun!

Call us today on 01243 512400 - option 1 to find out more or see here for details of membership, including how to join.
