ISC Regatta Day
While the adult sailors had the morning off the Juniors had a busy day starting with the Regatta pursuit race in the morning. We had 23 juniors out and starting from the club line, course cards at the ready they went on a tour of some of the harbour marks. After a hog roast for lunch on the lawn the Transit Committee ran a brilliant afternoon of activities for the younger sailors. Several teams battled

The Norman Moore Trophy for Swallows
With 17 25 knots of breeze forecast for the Saturday of the Jubilee Weekend a determined fleet of 15 Swallows went afloat to race for the Norman Moore Trophy, the Swallow Class In-Harbour Championships at Itchenor Sailing Club. Running out of space to display the course for race one some were wondering if Nigel Pattison and his race team had forgotten that two back to back races were scheduled for the morning, but

It was the first ASW since the last ISC campaign there three years ago. Hermes, a Pogo 12.5 helmed by Al Langhorne (also BSC), won their class for the week overall. Sailing in near perfect trade winds all week and with a new format of two windward/ leeward courses a day meant more

Sir Henry Chisholm Trophy Weekend
The May Bank Holiday saw 19 Solent Sunbeams on the water for the fleet's first major event of the year. On Saturday morning, the Sunbeams were well-behaved and away on their first attempt in a South Westerly breeze which had taken some time to fill in. Bright sunshine and cotton wool clouds over the South Downs confirmed this was a sea breeze that was now in control over the gradient Easterly wind. The

Royal Yacht Club de Belgique Plate 30 April/1 May 2022
We saw a competitive fleet of 15 Swallows out for the first weekend series of the season for the Belgian Plate. And good to see Peregrine S84 (Bob Sharpe) back in the harbour. After a delayed start to allow an 8kt wind to settle and a general recall (surprising given the strong flood) we were off at the second attempt under a black flag. PRO Chris Blevins was taking no further nonsense.
