Club Working Party - Dinghy/Mirror/Topper Weekend

3rd March, 08:00 - 17:00

Start time: 0800      Finish by sunset.

Please take time to carefully read the Working Parties Risk Assessment and Manual pile driver SOP here on the ISC website as well as the Working Party FAQ's below.

You are volunteering to be replacing the decking of the staging.  You should be happy handling planks and bearers (with usually 2 people) and using hand tools to remove nails/hammer or drill. This is open to those aged 16 or over who are confident to do this, though those under 18 are required to be teamed up with a parent volunteering for this same work party.

Winter duties booking is now open for this winter's plans to replace half of the decking along the up-harbour side of the staging and complete the run of new decking beside the club under the bandstand, with each fleet asked to take the lead for a weekend.

This year the winter work parties are going to be different as the club has bought a piling machine, so that we stop using the current manual pile drivers.  As a result, the weekends will be focused on the replacement of the deck itself and the piling will be carried out beforehand midweek.

If you are available midweek and are interested in being part of the smaller teams working with the piling machine, please contact Charles Hindson (Hon Bosun) directly.

The staging replacement remains our annual winter challenge to support our dinghy fleets being vibrant and safe, so please support this if you are able.

Please be prompt for the briefing, ready to start work. Refreshments including lunch and tea will be provided.

Please note: agreeing to carry out a winter work party slot involves consent to a your email address being shared with the others on the same day for operational purposes.
