Legacy Fund
Introduction
The Legacy Fund has been established to safeguard the long-term financial stability of our Club and support its continued development, even in the face of extraordinary challenges. By building a dedicated reserve, we can invest proactively in essential projects and initiatives that strengthen our Club for generations to come.
Why the Legacy Fund Matters
While regular Club income supports maintenance, operations, and minor improvements, larger-scale or strategic projects often require additional funding. In the past, major initiatives have relied on special fundraising efforts. However, not all essential projects or Member-focused initiatives can attract immediate financial support.
A well-supported Legacy Fund ensures we can act decisively when important needs arise. This includes major improvements to Club facilities, programmes that nurture future generations of sailors, and support for Members who may be facing difficult circumstances.
Examples of potential uses of the Legacy Fund include:

Other strategic priorities that safeguard the Clubs future and enhance Member experience
By keeping the fund flexible, we ensure it can respond to the evolving needs of the Club and deliver meaningful, lasting benefits.
Governance and Oversight
To ensure transparency, proper stewardship, and alignment with the long-term interests of the Club, the Legacy Fund is overseen by the General Committee in their capacity as the Clubs Directors.
The General Committee is responsible for reviewing proposals, assessing priorities, and authorising the use of Legacy Fund resources. This governance framework ensures that decisions are made responsibly, consistently, and with full accountability.
How You Can Contribute
We invite all Members to help secure the future of the Club by making contributions to the Legacy Fund. Two key contribution pathways are available:
- Regular Contributions Set up a recurring donation, either monthly or annually, in an amount of your choosing:
- £10 / £25 / £50 / £100 / Other (please specify)
- Regular contributions can be added optionally during your annual subscription renewal or set up at any time.
- One-Off Donations & Legacies Make a single contribution at any time or leave a legacy gift in your will. If you would like to discuss a larger donation or legacy bequest, please contact the Commodore or Honorary Treasurer in confidence.
