Talk - Ocean Rowing: Pushing the Limits by Billy Taylor
Last years planned talk sadly had to be cancelled — but we are delighted to confirm that Billy Taylor and his team are now able to join us for what promises to be a truly inspiring evening.
Billy Taylor, Susannah Cass, Glyn Roberts and Lara Vafiadis have 7 ocean crossings by row boat between them.
In June this year they will be setting off for their biggest challenge yet, a 5,500 mile crossing of the Indian ocean in a 29 ft long, 5 ft wide bespoke built ocean rowing boat.
Their route, from Australia to Kenya, will be a world first in the sport of Ocean rowing, and the crew will spend anything up to 120 days working together in incredibly tough conditions to ensure a safe and successful crossing.
There is no support boat following them and they will be completely reliant on their own skill and determination to get across one of the harshest environments on the planet.
During the evening, they will share stories of their past crossings before talking about what they are about to take on and, more importantly, why they are doing it.
6pm: Arrival & Drinks in the bar
7pm: Talk starts in the Members Room
8pm: Back to the Bar for a final drink (or two!)
Tickets:
