Swallow National Championship 2025

Sixteen Swallows enjoyed their usual extremely competitive racing at their 2025 National Championship, 4th to 6th July, hosted by Bembridge SC, with the result undecided until the final run.
More temperate July weather arrived following the recent heatwave alongside a force 4 to 5 SW breeze for Friday's 'Vernon Trophy' passage race. Those who stuck it out on port tack almost to the Island did best benefitting with a forecasted Westerly shift.
Saturday produced winds gusting 25 knots+ SW, close to the maximum possible for Swallow racing. BSC still managed to run the programmed three races, all completed with only a few 'wipeouts' within the fleet.
Sunday delivered lighter, shifty SW to W conditions, providing the fleet with a quite different challenge for the final two races before the sail home in sparkling conditions.
